Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Explain concepts and review material with students inone-on-one or small group settings.
- Assist students in developing study skills and organizationalstrategies.
- Monitor student progress and adjust tutoring methods asneeded.
- Refer students as needed to other Center or campusresources.
- Consult with faculty for course resources, guidance, and direction in their tutoring work. Communicate feedback with facultyto ensure effective support for students.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
- Serve as positive role models and mentors, promoting a positive learning environment and academic success for all students.
- Assist in LEAD Center marketing efforts including introducingthemselves to the classes they are tutoring for and makingclassroom announcements for LEAD Center programs.
- Currently enrolled undergraduate Fairmont State student or graduate student who completed their bachelor’s at Fairmont State University
- Minimum QPA of 3.0 or bachelor’s degree in the discipline.
Undergraduate students have received an B or better in thecourse(s) you intend to support. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- A commitment to helping other students learn.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students.
- Be empathetic, a good listener and patient with others.
- Satisfactory completion of the training program.
Appointment will begin Fall 2025 and continue for the entireacademic year ). References will be automaticallycontacted upon your selection for an interview.
