$27 per hour. One‑year terminating contract for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Minimum 2 hours per day for 4 days for coordinating duties plus an additional 4 hours of prep/data collection per week for a total of 12 hours per week for up to 110 program days. - MANDATORY Save the Children training required. Anticipated program start date is September 8, 2026.

Evaluation:
Performance in this position will be evaluated by the building principal/immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code, WV State Board Policy, and Nicholas County Board of Education Policy.
FLSA Status:
Exempt
Provide support, instruction, and oversight of after school program.
Qualifications- Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specializations and grade levels pursuant to WV Code Section 18A-3-2. Elementary Education K‑6 or Multi‑Subject K‑8.
- Criminal background check conducted pursuant to WV Code Section 18‑5‑15c and/or Section 18A-3-10, as appropriate.
- Meet the qualifications outlined in WV Code Section 18A-3-2a.

- Perform duties as described in the job description below.
- Remain free of any alcohol or non‑prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout employment in the School System.
- Ensure accurate and timely records are submitted to SCORE and 21 CCLC on a weekly basis.
- Oversee the implementation of extended day or year program: distribute and collect enrollment forms for summer programming with input from school administrators (varies by site).
- Organize and monitor the delivery of educational opportunities to enrolled children.
- Work with program staff to organize children into groups of fifteen based on grade levels, reading levels, and behavior management concerns.
- Send completed weekly planning templates and Child Family Checklists by Monday of each week to your Program Specialist.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Specialist.
- Coordinate with your administrator or site supervisor to ensure educational kits and products are distributed to families prior to program start date (repeat every two weeks or as needed).
- Ensure that all children have been contacted within the first week of program start date to confirm enrollment in the program.
- Collect program enrollment forms.
- Distribute activity calendars and other resources to families with the help of your Program Specialist, if applicable.
- Integrate time into the daily schedule to complete weekly planning templates and review of Child Family Checklists.
- Contact families using phone, text, email, social media/school app, or postcard when other methods fail.
- Address individual family needs with appropriate staff and devise possible solutions.
- Offer "open office hours" to help support children with activities.
- Implement a combination of online and offline activities each week (e.g., sending home recipes, food distribution, recording or leading an online activity). Activities vary by site.
- Assist program staff in engaging and supporting families.
- Facilitate incentive programs developed for children and families.
- Establish relationships with families: establish frequency of contact by the end of the first week of enrollment; contact K‑1 children twice a week (if possible) and grades 2‑5 once a week; model and explain use of manipulatives; use the Discussion Guide to identify family‑specific areas of focus and support.
- Implement family‑guided activities and practices throughout programming as outlined in the weekly planning template; conduct two to three activities during the week to address specific areas of focus and support; collaborate with school administration and staff to identify alignment between program and school‑wide practices; communicate regularly with the Program Specialist regarding family participation; perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or Program Director.
Demands
Reach, stand, walk, lift, grasp, write, talk, hear, see, use technology and multimedia equipment; frequently lift at least 10 pounds. Requires close vision to read handwritten or typed material and adjust focus. Requires interacting with the public and other staff members.
Work EnvironmentEducational setting is mostly indoors with occasional outdoor recess and field trip activities. Noise level low to moderate (20‑60 dB); gymnasiums or vocational/technical labs may reach 60‑90 dB.
