• Teach assigned courses as scheduled and meet all designatedclass periods.
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, lectures, and assignments.
• Engage students in active learning and facilitate meaningfulclass discussions.
• Assess student learning through examinations, quizzes, andother assignments.
• Provide timely feedback to students and maintain records oftheir progress.
• Maintain regular office hours for student consultation and support.
• Submit assessment reporting data and materials and participate in departmental assessment activities, as required by supervisor.
• Post syllabus and maintain gradebook in Blackboard or otherofficial online course delivery platform.

• A master’s degree or higher in a program of study in the discipline in which they may be hired to teach is required andprior teaching experience is preferred. The degree must be from aregionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by theU.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
• Adjunct faculty teaching in graduate programs should hold theterminal degree determined by the discipline and have a record of research, scholarship or achievement appropriate for the graduateprogram.

• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level is desirable.
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the subject area of thecourse(s) to be taught.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and student-centeredlearning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

• Previous Blackboard experience preferred.

• Part-time faculty are appointed only for the current semesterin which they are teaching, and no guarantees are made forcontinuing employment.
• Due to Affordable Care Act provisions, adjunct employees maynot work for or hold an adjunct assignment more than nine (9) credit hours per semester TOTAL, or 27 hours per week. The hourscan be divided between Fairmont State and another WV publicinstitution/agency, but the total credit hours must still equalnine or fewer or 27 hpw or fewer. This stipulation is due to Affordable Care Act requirements and costs for the institutions.
