Description ofJob Duties and Responsibilities
Students will support the delivery of Hyflex courses at Fairmont State; and can work 5-10 hours per week (usually daytime hours, butmay include some evenings). Students will need to be available for all of the days/times that the course(s) occurs. Students may cover more than one course if their schedule allows.
Fall 2026 CoursesHistory of 21st Century Geography (T/Th from 11:00 - 12:15pm)
The HyFlex (Hybrid-Flexible) class delivery combines in-person andonline learning. Students can attend in-person, participate onlinevia video conferencing tools, or engage through recorded lecture sand digital materials. This approach ensures that students cantailor their learning experience to fit their personal schedules and preferences.
Technical Support:- Trained and proficient in using classroom technology(high-quality cameras, microphones, and projectors); including howto operate video conferencing software and troubleshoot common technical issues.
- Ahead of the class start time, assist with technology setup,troubleshooting as necessary, so that class can begin upon the professor's arrival.
- During class sessions, ensure that technical issues are addressed quickly, minimizing disruptions to learning.
- Submit IT requests as necessary. Schedule regular technology checks to prevent technical issues from disrupting class facilitation.
- During live class sessions, monitor the online chat for questions and/or issues from students participating remotely.
- Ensure that remote students can participate in real-time discussions and activities.
- Support faculty with facilitating discussions and group activities as necessary.
- Ensure that classes are recorded; confirm that a copy is uploaded to Blackboard.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment: Must be a current student at Fairmont State University.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficient in using classroom technology (high-quality cameras, microphones, and projectors);including how to operate video conferencing software and troubleshoot common technical issues. Training can be provided. - Skills: Strong problem-solving skills; able to think onyour feet and troubleshoot under pressure; and maintain a calm demeanor in difficult situations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills;ability to interact professionally with faculty and students.
- Experience: Previous experience supporting and/or participating in remote presentations (webinars, online classes,Telehealth) is a plus but not required.
- Availability: Flexibility to work during regular business hours and occasionally evenings based upon class schedule.
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry materials(up to 25 lbs).
