Position Summary:

To conduct and present research specific to infants and toddlers and provide specialized coaching and technical assistance to administrators and caregivers of infants and toddlers.

DutiesII. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Participate on the CCR&R professional development team and implement all team responsibilities as outlined in Chapter 5 of the CCR&R Policy and Procedures manual.
  • Provides coaching and technical assistance as outlined in the CCR&R Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Provides technical assistance to providers for general requests which include but are not limited to
  • Health and Safety, Diapering, handwashing, safe sleep
  • Concerns noted on TACIT visits, quality rating evaluations
  • Curriculum Implementation
  • Biting and expulsion prevention
  • I/T Credential Specialization
  • Portfolio development
  • Other topics as needed
  • Provide updates on newest infant/toddler research.
  • Promote and educate providers and community members on the WV Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Designation (BFCCD) initiative by recruiting childcare centers, facilities, and family childcare providers to participate.
  • Serve as the lead contact for the WV Breastfeeding Friendly Child Care Designation (BFCCD) for Region 1.
  • Assist providers with the maintenance and renewal of the Breastfeeding Friendly Childcare Designation certification and all that process entails (annual/renewal check-ins, additional training, etc.)
  • Maintain documentation of (BFCCD) process.
  • Serve as Team Leader for technical assistance team consisting of the Child Care Nurse Health Consultant and the Child Care Health Educator.
  • Work with Professional Development Team Supervisor to request bonus stipends once BFCCD steps are completed.
  • Work collaboratively with the TRAILS team to participate in the TRIP program.
  • Collaboratively work with the ITSN to develop initiatives.
  • Attend ITSN meetings and plan retreats.
  • Conduct and present research on infant/toddler policies, best practices, and childcare trends.
Iii. Additional Duties
  • Participate in required meetings including staff and unit meetings.
  • Provide technical assistance visits that require in-depth knowledge of infant/toddler development, as needed.
  • Participate in field experiences to establish and maintain relationships with Family Child Care Facility providers.
  • Participate in the Traveling Resources for Infant Providers (T.R.I.P) program.
  • Promote membership in the WV Infant Mental Health Association and provide coaching through the endorsement process.
  • Collaborate with the local Community Colleges and Technical schools to promote articulation of WVIT I-R and WVIT II.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements

V. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Option 1, Preferred: A master’s degree in early childhood, developmental psychology, educational psychology, or child development. Specialized training in coaching and adult learning. Certification for the Program for Infant/Toddler Care. Infant/Toddler Mental Health Endorsement for Category I or II. Three years of work experience as an Infant/Toddler Specialist.
  • Option 2, Standard: A bachelor’s degree in early childhood, developmental psychology, or child development. Specialized training in coaching and adult learning. Certification for the Program for Infant/Toddler Care. Infant/Toddler Mental Health Endorsement for Category I or II. Five years of work experience as an Infant/Toddler Specialist.
  • Option 3, Division of Early Care and Education Approval
