About the Opportunity
First Energy Service Co., a subsidiary of First Energy Corp, is seeking a Power Network Analysis (PNA) Supervisor to lead a dedicated team that supports 24/7/365 operations of First Energy’s three Transmission System Control Centers (SCCs) in Akron, OH and Fairmont, WV. The PNA Supervisor provides leadership support to the PNA group responsible for monitoring, optimizing, and controlling the transmission grid through the Energy Management System (EMS) Network applications.

- Provide support to team members for maintaining, enhancing, and accurately resolving real‑time issues of the network applications within the real‑time Energy Management System (EMS).
- Ensure that SCADA equipment capabilities and ICCP telemetry are reviewed and current.
- Collaborate with team members to enable peers conducting studies related to the operation of First Energy Transmission.
- Coordinate seasonal assessment studies and network model comparisons with Transmission Planning and Protection and the SCCs.
- Support communications and data‑exchange coordination for new equipment energizations such as limit updates and topology changes, including coordinating external personnel for joint Network model updates.
- Serve as the subject‑matter expert for support groups, aiding ongoing readiness for compliance and audit activities, reviewing situational data, acquiring data, and liaising between TOS and regulators.
- Coordinate support of real‑time Operations during off‑hours as part of the callout rotation for team members.
- Supervise the daily activities of the PNA group within Transmission Operations.
- Make decisions guided by policies, procedures, and the business plan.
- Maintain a high level of safety commitment in day‑to‑day functions.
- Drive continuous improvement across the business unit and First Energy.
- Work within departmental budget constraints.
- Develop team reports for department leadership to highlight group priorities, progress, and successes.
- Hold accountability for the performance of the PNA team.
- Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion, coordinating work activities with other supervisors and/or managers.
- Execute performance‑management processes, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Lead, educate, and direct others to improve team effectiveness and communicate results and recommendations.
- Work effectively with different parts of the organization, broadening, deepening, and maintaining relationships.
- Ensure business continuity through effective succession‑planning processes.
- Travel as required.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET‑accredited institution is required. Acceptable alternatives: (1) a Professional Engineer’s (PE) license; (2) a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field from a non‑ABET institution plus an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering from a university with an ABET‑accredited Bachelor’s program; (3) a Bachelor of Science in other Engineering disciplines from an ABET‑accredited institution will also be considered.
- Minimum seven years of engineering experience.
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
- Highly motivated, self‑driven, and enthusiastic leader capable of motivating, communicating, and driving change.
- Exceptional relationship‑management, leadership, teamwork, and managerial skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for presenting clear, accurate, concise reports.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead others toward organizational goals.
- Decisive, sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Knowledge of electric transmission systems, reliability standards, and regional transmission organizations.
- Knowledge of NERC and RFC standards and policies is preferred.
- Familiarity with any or all of GE/Alstom Energy Management System (EMS), Transmission Adequacy & Reliability Assessment (TARA), Energy Delivery Outage Application (EDOA), Transmission Line Loadability (TLL), System Operations Requests (SOR), PI Data Link, PERL, Primavera Unifier, Microsoft Power
BI. - Experience analyzing complex problems and demonstrating good judgment in decision‑making.
- Demonstrated ability to manage diverse projects and accomplish responsibilities in a timely manner.
- In‑depth knowledge of computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) and core understanding of applicable technical products and/or services.
