The Senior Institutional Research Analyst advances the university’s commitment to data-informed decision-making by managing, analyzing, and communicating institutional data. This role supports planning, assessment, accreditation, compliance, and strategic initiatives through rigorous data stewardship and collaborative engagement.
Data Management & Reporting- Collect, validate, and report institutional data for federal, state, and accrediting bodies (e.g., IPEDS, state higher education systems, HLC).
- Produce recurring and ad hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders with precision and timeliness.
- Maintain institutional data definitions, documentation, and reporting protocols to ensure consistency across units.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and data visualizations using Alteryx.
- Design, administer, and analyze campus-wide surveys to inform strategic decisions.
- Serve as a liaison with academic and administrative units to promote data-informed practices.
- Translate complex technical analyses into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Partner with IT and other data offices to enhance data infrastructure and accessibility.
- Supervise graduate assistants, student employees, and interns as assigned.
- Assist in setting priorities, timelines, and deliverables for institutional research projects.
- Support the Executive Director in strategic planning, assessment, and accreditation efforts.
- Strong experience writing complex SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
- Experience working with higher education ERP systems such as Ellucian Banner and Workday.
- Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas.
- Experience with statistical software such as SPSS.
- Experience designing and analyzing surveys using Qualtrics or similar tools.
This is an on-campus position located in Fairmont, WV, with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement.
Minimum Required EducationBachelor’s Degree in related field.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s Degree in related field.
