Senior Network Engineer; GSPL

Job Description

GTSC and its Global Sciences and Technology (GST) business unit seeks an experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, secure, and support enterprise network infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead network initiatives from planning through execution. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Sonic Wall firewalls and Cisco switches in complex, production environments.

The position is approved for a hybrid work schedule but requires onsite presence at our Fairmont, WV office.

• Design, implement, and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable network infrastructure
• Configure, manage and troubleshoot Sonic Wall firewalls, including VPNs, security policies and threat management
• Install, configure and support Cisco switches, including VLANs, routing, QoS and switch stacking
• Monitor network performance, availability and security, proactively addressing issues
• Lead network upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvement projects
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN environments
• Collaborate with systems, security and application teams to ensure network alignment with business needs
• Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams and standard operating procedures
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
• Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices
• Participate in on‑call rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field of study
• 7 or more years of hands‑on network engineering experience in enterprise environments
• Proven experience with Sonic Wall firewalls (configuration, management and troubleshooting)
• Strong experience with Cisco switches (Catalyst, Nexus or similar)
• In‑depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP preferred) and VPN technologies
• Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills
