Quality Control - QC Analysts/Managers, Production QC/QA
This position is responsible for ensuring that spool piece fabrication as well as structural element fabrication is completed in accordance with company and client standards. Candidate will work with the operations team to visually inspect and document the fabrication process.
Responsibilities- Perform daily quality inspections validating assembly, fit-up and tack weld, dimensions in accordance with drawings
- Review Material Test Reports (MTR) for incoming steel
- Visual inspection of welds and overall spool pieces
- Maintain quality records for spool pieces and structural elements
- Assist in managing quality issues from customers
- Report non-conformities of product/processes to supervisor
- Oversee various activities to ensure compliance with client requirements
- Provide training regarding quality standards and customer expectations
- All other duties as assigned by management
- 5+ years of quality control or related experience
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Previous experience in a steel fabrication environment
- Knowledge in welding processes, including MIG and Sub Arch Welding li>Ability to read a tape measure and other measurement devices
- Prior welding experience is a plus
- Ability to read, write, and interpret AutoCAD drawings
- Knowledge of API standard(s) is a plus
- Walking, stepping, climbing stairs to access or otherwise move from one location on the job site to another which normally involves walking within and around locations and when required to climb and descend stairs to access areas as required
- Visually inspecting material and storage areas well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)
- As a sedentary position, the positions requires the individual to be seated for long periods of time in a standard issue desk chair
- Remaining calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident which includes within and around locations and when required to climb and descend stairs to access available exits
- The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the location
- Ability to clearly communicate with supervisors and co-workers
- Ability to perform work according to routine, while maintaining standards of performance
- Ability to learn and gain knowledge
- Ability to follow work orders or receive instructions
- Ability to adhere to Safety policies and procedures
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required
- Current or previous certification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector- CWI certificate (highly preferred)
- OSHA 10 Certification Preferred
