The Controls Account Executive is a full-time, on-site role based in Northern, VA, responsible for driving sales of building automation and controls solutions. This position involves identifying and developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer accounts, and presenting tailored solutions that address client needs in energy management, comfort, and system integration. Day-to-day activities include conducting site visits, preparing proposals and estimates, participating in bid processes, and negotiating contracts in collaboration with internal technical and operations teams.
The Controls Account Executive will regularly coordinate with engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure successful implementation and ongoing customer satisfaction. The role also includes maintaining accurate sales forecasts, using CRM tools, and staying informed on industry trends, competitors, and ALC product offerings.
- Sales and account management skills, including prospecting, relationship building, opportunity qualification, and negotiation.
- Technical understanding of building automation, HVAC controls, and BACnet-based systems, with the ability to interpret plans and specifications.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects, bids, and customer interactions in a fast-paced environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess customer facilities, identify opportunities for efficiency, and propose viable solutions.
- Proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office tools, and basic business reporting for forecasting and pipeline management.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience in building automation, mechanical contracting, HVAC, or related industries is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Northern, VA, with a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
