Recreation Coordinator SUMMARY OF POSITION
Position involves the facilitation of various recreation and sports activities, including instruction and supervision, as well as assisting in various special events and office activities for the Department of Parks and Recreation.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES- Facilitate various recreation and sports activities
- Plan, promote, organize, schedule, and lead activities for youth and adult programs as determined with the supervisor
- Maintain records such as attendance, income from fees, expenditures, and time sheets
- Maintain ongoing inventory control of recreation equipment and supplies
- Assist with registration for department programs, and answer specific program questions
- Monitor the number of teams or individual registrations for programs
- Instruction at various recreation and sports activities
- Assist in special events and recreation activities
- Assist with office operations for the Parks and Recreation Department
- Assist in set-up and tear down for facility reservations
- Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor or as in the personnel policy
- Valid Driver's License
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer and office equipment skills
- Public and internal relationship skills
- Supervisory and instruction skills
- Knowledge of various sports
- First Aid Training
- Athletic skills required when coaching or conducting camps
- Possession of personal characteristics that create and maintain interest and enthusiasm with public and private groups and individuals of all ages
- Ability to maintain excellent public relations with the general public and user groups
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, or other irregular hours, and as necessary, to make and receive contacts by telephone and in person efficiently and effectively during irregular hours
- Ability to communicate effectively with the press, as authorized, to inform public of events
- Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and recreation facility setting
- Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling for prolonged periods of time
- Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination skills, including skillful use of a computer keyboard
- Ability to travel to various recreation sites
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively to exchange information
- Ability to lift 15 pounds on a frequent and regular basis, and up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis
- Ability to bend, stretch, and maneuver objects weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent and regular basis.
Most work will be performed in a recreational setting, either outdoors or indoors, with the Employee traveling to different locations. However, employee will occasionally work in an office setting.
The Employee may be exposed to inclement weather conditions and work and/or walk on various types of surfaces, including slippery or uneven surfaces.
The Employee will frequently be required to work evenings and weekends, and occasionally work extended hours.
