Property Maintenance Inspector:
Full-time

City of Fairview Park – Building Department

Starting at $23.85/ hour (commensurate with experience)

The Building Department is seeking a full-time individual that enforces city property maintenance and housing codes and inspects commercial and residential properties in compliance with City of Fairview Park ordinances and codes. The individual must communicate effectively and work independently. The candidate must be comfortable working with Microsoft Office products, and computerized building department tracking systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Enforce property maintenance codes
• Daily inspections of exterior properties
• Prepares notices of code violations for property owners not in compliance
• Ensure code compliance through the use of warnings and court citations
• Responds to complaints and concerns from residents and others
• Enter data to record inspections, notes, compliance decisions on a computerized tracking system
• Prepares reports and maintains records of inspections, recordkeeping is essential to the process
• Assists department staff in performing various duties within the Building Department
• Performs various duties as needed or assigned
• Advise administration, City Council, and Rocky River court on status of properties

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• A valid State of Ohio driver’s license is required
• Strong computer and communication skills
• Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques involved in general building construction
• ICC Property Maintenance Inspector Certification or BBS Certificate within 1 year of hire and able to maintain certification during employment
• Any BBS License is a plus

Compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Passage of a pre-employment drug test is required, and a criminal background check will be performed.
