The City of Fairview is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk I to join the Finance Department. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Clerk I performs routine to moderately complex clerical and accounting duties related to utility billing, customer accounts, cash receipting, and general office support. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate billing, timely collections, and high-quality customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Process utility billing, payments, adjustments, and delinquency notices
- Maintain customer accounts; research and resolve billing discrepancies
- Receive, receipt, balance, and deposit daily payments
- Run routine reports and identify irregularities
- Provide front-counter, phone, and general clerical support
- Basic accounting and mathematical skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to use standard office and accounting software
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of clerical experience involving public contact and exposure to utility billing, or related accounting functions
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
