Outside Sales Representative

General Pacific is seeking a motivated, relationship-driven Outside Sales Representative to support the continued growth of our Conservation Division. This role works with contractors, utilities, builders, program partners, and manufacturers to expand adoption of high-efficiency HVAC and heat pump water heater solutions.

The ideal candidate is self-directed, technically curious, comfortable working with contractors, and energized by helping customers navigate products, incentives, and real-world installation needs. This is a consultative, field-based sales role with a strong emphasis on building long-term customer relationships and supporting energy-efficiency programs across the region.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop and grow relationships with existing and prospective contractors, builders, utilities, program partners, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities for high-efficiency HVAC, heat pump water heaters, and related conservation products and programs.
  • Maintain a regular call schedule with current accounts while actively prospecting for new customers.
  • Understand customer needs and recommend appropriate products, program opportunities, and solutions.
  • Provide product education, technical information, and sales support using product samples, literature, and manufacturer resources.
  • Support customers with quoting, product availability, rebate and incentive program information, and alternative product recommendations.
  • Provide job-site and field support as needed to help contractors successfully specify, install, and sell products.
  • Coordinate and participate in contractor trainings, utility meetings, product demonstrations, trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Work alongside manufacturer/representatives and program partners to strengthen customer relationships and promote key product lines.
  • Follow up after sales and customer interactions to ensure satisfaction, resolve concerns, and identify future opportunities.
  • Communicate customer activity, opportunities, and concerns with inside sales and other internal team members.
  • Maintain accurate account notes, opportunity information, expense records, and other required reporting.
  • Stay current on product developments, conservation programs, utility incentives, industry trends, and customer needs.
  • Represent General Pacific professionally and help maintain the company's service-first reputation with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
Qualifications
  • Outside sales experience preferred; experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, building products, energy efficiency, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, heat pump water heaters, contractor distribution, utility programs, or energy-efficiency incentives is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, identify opportunities, and manage a sales territory independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, utilities, manufacturers, and internal teams.
  • Comfortable learning technical products and translating product features into practical customer benefits.
  • Organized, dependable, and able to prioritize multiple customer needs and opportunities.
  • Strong computer skills and comfort using email, spreadsheets, online research tools, and customer-account tracking systems; willingness to learn and consistently use a CRM.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
  • Ability to travel regularly by vehicle throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington and occasionally attend overnight events.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Health Savings Account
  • 401(k) plan with a 15% full-salary employer contribution—no employee match required
  • Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave
  • Quarterly bonus program
  • Vehicle allowance
