The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.00 - $26.00. The full pay range is $24.00 - $40.80. Pay is based on labor market and may include education, experience, and certifications.

Assets Protection OverviewAssets Protection (AP) teams safeguard guests, team members, and the brand by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft, and responding to crisis events. They collaborate with store leaders and public safety officials, including law enforcement.
Role OverviewAs an Assets Protection Specialist, no two days are ever the same. Typical responsibilities include:
- Using surveillance and intelligence‑led tactics to keep guests and team members safe while reducing shortages.
- Monitoring guests with Target’s video surveillance system to identify theft risks.
- Implementing AP practices and routines to prevent and mitigate shortages.
- Documenting cases accurately and effectively.
- Resolving external theft and fraud and coordinating apprehensions.
- Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by delivering on commitments.
- Greet guests warmly, using eye contact or a wave.
- Help guests find items or resolve issues for a smooth shopping experience.
- Thank guests sincerely after each transaction.
- Support team efforts and assist peers while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an optimal experience.
- Support sales by ensuring product availability and preventing theft.
- Resolve theft using good judgment, conduct apprehensions in shortage focus areas, and follow AP policies.
- Identify theft trends through technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
- Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating issues.
- Use video systems to monitor theft activity effectively.
- Respond to security incidents and submit documentation following AP policy.
- Promote a physical security and safety culture through awareness and training.
- Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaching situations authentically.
- Work safely at all times, comply with safety policies, and report hazards.
- Maintain positive relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
- Participate in legal proceedings as required to represent Target’s interests.
- Perform additional duties as needed based on business needs.
- 18 years or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Meet any state or local licensing or other legal requirements related to the position.
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
- Ability to communicate on frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology.
- Effective communication skills.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Remain focused and composed in a fast‑paced environment while handling multiple tasks.
- Climb up and down ladders.
- Apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy.
- Handle, scan, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
- Operate in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements.
- Remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts.
