This program is designed for students currently pursuing an associate or technical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the coop / intern experience. It is not designed for graduates.

* Job Description:

** 3-month positions (May 2026 through August 2026)15-month position (May 2026 through August 2027)
** Duties/Tasks:
** Duties at the surface coal mine will be wide and varied, based on needs of the operation.  These duties may include all or some of the following:
* Repair electrical mining equipment and facilities.
* Assist with electrical inspections on mine equipment.
* Work with different voltage electrical systems.
* Troubleshoot motor control circuits, PLC, and digital drive control systems.
* Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal environmental regulations.
* Other duties as assigned.

Applicants will be trained to operate a bucket truck, digger truck, cable reeler, cable tractor, trencher, and other support equipment.

* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

** The successful applicant should have a working knowledge of AC and DC circuits, electrical controls, and troubleshooting with and understanding of electrical schematics.  Applicants need to have a valid driver’s license, be able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions and will work rotating shifts.

* Educational Requirements:

** Enrolled in accredited electrical program and in good academic standing.
