Junior Electronic Technician
Location: Falkirk
Salary: Up to 32,000 DOE
About the role
Are you starting out in electronics and enjoy working out why a circuit isn't working? Our client in Falkirk is looking for a Junior Electronic Technician to join their repair team. You'll learn to diagnose and repair VF drives, HMIs and circuit boards from a wide range of industries, with support from experienced technicians.
Every job is different, so you'll build real problem-solving skills quickly. You'll use your electronics knowledge and soldering ability to help deliver high-quality repairs that keep customers' operations running.
What you'll be doing
- Helping to diagnose faults on circuit boards and electronic systems using schematics and component datasheets
- Carrying out repairs under guidance: testing and replacing components, re-soldering connections and getting equipment back into service
- Using soldering irons, hot air rework stations, multimeters, oscilloscopes and other test equipment
- Supporting routine maintenance to prevent future failures and extend equipment life
- Recording repair procedures, replaced components and work carried out, for quality control and future reference
What we're looking for
- A qualification in electronics or electrical engineering (e.g. HNC, HND, apprenticeship or similar), or equivalent hands‑on experience
- A good grasp of electronics fundamentals and the ability to read basic schematics and datasheets
- Some soldering experience, whether through study, work or personal projects. SMD rework experience is a bonus
- IPC J-STD-001 certification is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided
- A willingness to learn and follow safety standards and quality procedures
- A methodical approach and an eye for detail
Why join?
- Salary of XX,000 - XX,000 , depending on experience
- Structured on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced repair technicians
- Varied, hands‑on work across many types of equipment and industries
- A clear path to develop into a fully skilled Electronic Technician
- A supportive team focused on doing excellent repair work
