Summary

The Project Coordinator would be the first point of contact for the public at municipal offices that distribute permits. They examine plans and other documents to verify accuracy according to the building code and completeness; explain requirements, and provide information to permit applicants; and process permit applications. The Project Coordinator would also assist building inspectors in their day‑to‑day duties, and perform basic data entry tasks.

Works under the general direction of the Director of Inspectional Services.

Essential Functions

Works with minimum supervision performing a variety of responsible functions requiring the exercise of judgment, discretion and tact in coordinating the activities of the department and in relieving the Director of Inspectional Services of certain administrative duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Must possess full knowledge of various Inspectional Services procedures, policies and services in order to provide support to the general public in assistance to the Inspectional Services.
  • Must possess an in‑depth knowledge of the permitting process for what must be submitted for the issuance of the Building, Mechanical, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler System, Solar Arrays, Cell Tower, Permit, etc.
  • Compile data, prepare and maintain a variety of reports, correspondence, and other paperwork required for the day‑to‑day operation of the Department.
  • Coordinate permit review with the other City Departments as directed by the Building Commissioner and Office Manager.
  • Answer telephones and e‑mails, route calls, etc. and provide information as necessary; greet visitors and respond to inquiries from employees, citizens, & colleagues.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service in order to promote and maintain effective and responsive community relations.
  • Develop and maintain office forms and procedures.
  • Produce correspondence to individuals, businesses and other stakeholders as it pertains to applications for various licenses.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
