Director for The Drowsy Chaperone
Bentley University's Arts and Performance Organization is seeking a director for our fall production of The Drowsy Chaperone. The production will run from September to November 2026, with shows taking place during the weekend of November 19th. After the contract has cleared with the university, a stipend of $2,000 will be provided at the end of the production. Housing and transportation are not provided.
Responsibilities- Oversee the overall vision and execution of the show.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Production to coordinate all production aspects (lighting, sound, props, costumes, hair & makeup, etc.).
- Choreograph scenes and provide acting notes to the cast.
- Collaborate with a music director and choreographer who will teach actors their music and dance numbers.
- Support a cast primarily composed of college aged students with limited theater experience.
- Experience working with college aged students and directing productions with limited experience performers.
- Ability to choreograph scenes and give acting notes.
- Willingness to coordinate with the Vice President of Production and other department leaders.
- Preferred candidates reside in the greater Boston area and have a flexible schedule.

About the OrganizationThe Arts and Performance Organization (formerly known as the Alpha Psi Omega National Theater Honor Society) is the theater organization at Bentley University. We put on two shows a year: a musical in the fall and a straight show in the spring. We are a small but motivated group that enjoys bringing art to our business-oriented campus.
