Musical Theatre Director

Description:

New World Music & Dance School seeks a passionate and experienced Musical Theatre Director to lead our Broadway-style and Junior Theater Festival (JTF)-focused musical theatre programs. The role centers on guiding students through the full theatrical process, including storytelling, character development, staging, and performance preparation. The director will work primarily with children and teens, collaborating closely with choreographers, music directors, and production staff to create polished, engaging productions for performances, showcases, and competitions.

This part-time position offers a flexible schedule and is ideal for directors who enjoy mentoring young performers in a supportive environment.

• Strong background in musical theatre direction, with experience in Broadway-style productions and/or Junior Theater Festival (JTF) programs.
• Excellent skills in storytelling, character development, scene work, and stage blocking.
• Experience directing children and/or teenagers, with an understanding of age‑appropriate rehearsal and performance techniques.
• Ability to lead rehearsals efficiently while maintaining a positive, encouraging rehearsal atmosphere.
• Experience preparing students for performances, showcases, and adjudicated competitions, including JTF‑style events.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with choreographers, music directors, designers, and production staff.
• Strong communication skills and confident rehearsal leadership.
• Reliable, professional, and highly collaborative team player.
