Seeking audio/visual engineer to join Somerville Music Spaces team.

Work with a variety of clients to engineer and produce high-quality audio and/or video recordings, primarily in classical and jazz genres. Collaborate with artists to achieve the best possible sound and ensure all sessions are conducted professionally, on time, and to client satisfaction. Operate studio hardware and software with efficiency and creativity. Maintain a clean and organized studio space before/after sessions.

Work with a variety of artists, ranging from youth to adult, beginner to experienced. Access to industry-grade gear and a professional workspace with the opportunity to outfit the studio with your preferred equipment. Competitive per-session or hourly pay based on experience.

Starting Pay: $35 per hour based on experience plus personal use of the control room or other studios up to 6 hrs per month.

• At least 2 years experience recording, mixing, and mastering primarily in classical and jazz genres. Please include a portfolio of recent work in your application.
• Thorough understanding of classical recording/mixing/editing techniques and streaming protocols, including appropriate mic placement and room acoustics for variety of instruments.
• Experience in other genres and podcast recording is a plus.
• Experience with Logic Pro, iZotope RX, Davinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro.
• Experience using OBS for video recording and streaming.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliability, professionalism, and punctuality.
• Strong system troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift, move, and set-up gear.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends.

$35 per hour

Somerville Music Spaces, LLC is a brand new boutique facility in Somerville, just outside of Boston, with 7 rehearsal studios of varying size available for rent on an hourly basis. Created with classical, jazz, and acoustic musicians in mind for teaching lessons and classes, solo practice, group rehearsals, studio recitals, masterclasses and making high-quality video and audio recordings for auditions and competitions.

All rooms are acoustically treated, sound isolated and outfitted with acoustic or digital pianos, including a percussion room with timpani, marimba, drum set and keyboard and a 650 sqft performance room with flexible seating for up to 60 guests and a Steinway B grand piano.
