SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises assigned dental assistant while performing dental procedures. May assist in supervision of dental externs as needed.

SALARY RANGE: Band I ($134,000 - $175,000/year)
WHO YOU ARE:The mission of Charles River Community Health (CRCH) is to partner with individuals and families so they can thrive and lead healthier lives by delivering the comprehensive, integrated, and equitable primary healthcare that matters most to them, the Fully Licensed Dentist will provide comprehensive and quality diagnostic, preventive, and restorative dental care to the Health Center patients. The Fully Licensed Dentist will also participate in the development and monitoring of clinical standards and will supervise dental assistants.
YOURRESPONSIBILITIES
- Under the general direction of the Dental Director, provide diagnostic, preventive, and restorative dental care to the Health Center patients.
- Perform all phases of restorative dentistry, including fixed and removable prosthetics.
- Perform clinical examinations and formulate treatment plans.
- Perform preventive services such as dental prophylaxis and sealants.
- Perform endodontic therapy on anterior teeth.
- Perform periodontal therapy including periodontal exams, scaling, and root planning.
- Perform pediatric dental treatment including pulpotomies and space maintainers.
- Conduct routine exodontia and minor oral surgical procedures.
- Participate in the supervision of the dental assistants.
- Participate in developing clinical standards and monitoring clinical practice against these standards.
- Participate in various Health Center activities and Committees.
- Provide clinical supervision in the absence of the Dental Director and Associate Directors.
- Must retain responsibility for coordination and supervision of clinical aspects of dental services provided to patients at CRCH.
- Must participate, as requested, in recruitment, onboarding, and clinical oversight of clinical staff, students, and externs.
- Pre-estimate work being done, for Medicaid and private insurance.
- Assist in the training of new staff members.
- Supervise and mentor dental students and hygiene trainees during clinical rotations, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and educational objectives.
- Participate in community outreach and education activities.
- Work collaborative with other Health Center staff in meeting JCAHO accreditation and other regulatory and/or funding requirements.
- Must maintain a patient volume consistent with CRCH’s business objectives, prorated based upon the percent of clinical hours worked if less than full time; must retain responsibility for the coordination and supervision of clinical aspects of health care provided to these patients.
- Must participate in the continuity of care of patients utilizing other health care facilities approved by CRCH for referrals, emergency room services, specialty referrals, and in-patient services in a cost-effective manner.
- Must maintain one standing evening session per week and 1-2 Saturday sessions per quarter.
- When required, must be willing to participate in coverage for scheduled sessions during other providers’ vacation, emergency, personal, or family leaves.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dental or designee.
- DMD/DDS, one year of general practice residency in Dentistry preferred.
- FULLY Licensed to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Minimum of one year of dental practice.
- Must have demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be self‑reflective, open to feedback, and able to alter communication styles based on the audience.
- Must be hands‑on, serving as a role model for others in the department.
- Must be able to work in an environment where there are constant interruptions.
- Must have a willingness to work flexible hours to meet the organization's needs/demands.
- Must be able to travel to either Charles River Community Health site (Brighton and Waltham) as needed.
