Transforming Dental Care, One Practice at a Time
Architect | Fall River, MA | On-Site | Full-Time
Are you an experienced architect ready to do work that matters, somewhere you'll actually want to stay?
At Design Ergonomics, we believe great design is about more than aesthetics. It's about creating healthier, more efficient workplaces that help healthcare teams deliver their best care. We're looking for a licensed architect with deep expertise, strong judgment, and a real instinct for mentorship. Someone ready to lead, shape how we work, and help us grow our capabilities from the ground up.
OurStory
Design Ergonomics was founded by Dr. David Ahearn, a practicing dentist who saw firsthand the need for healthier, more ergonomic dental spaces. What started as a garage startup has grown into the nation's leader in dental office design, built on a proprietary, lean-principles approach to workspace efficiency and themed environments that no one else in the industry can replicate.
Our purpose is clear: to make a meaningful difference in the lives of healthcare providers and the communities they serve. We support local teams, sponsor community events, and donate equipment to clinics in need, including over $1 million in contributions to a dental clinic in the Dominican Republic. Our work helps dental practices become pillars of their communities, extending their reach through mission work and service.
The RoleThis is a senior, hands-on architecture role with a clear path to broader scope. Day to day, you'll lead concept and schematic design across a range of projects, and you'll mentor our design team. That includes supporting members toward their ARE licensure, which is a core and essential part of this position.
As we take on our first full-service projects, this role will grow with us. You'll help build out that capability and become the licensed professional of record, owning construction documents, permitting, construction administration, and the stamping and sealing of drawings. It's a rare chance to help stand up a full-service practice inside an established, financially healthy company, and to shape how it's done.
We've designed dental offices in old bank vaults, in high-rises, and from scratch on rural farmland. The industry is changing fast, and great work spaces are now essential to attracting both dental professionals and patients. Your work will directly improve the daily lives of healthcare teams nationwide.
What You'll Own- Leading concept and schematic design across 3 to 10 small projects and 1 to 2 larger projects at a time, with capacity that flexes
- Mentoring our architectural designers and guiding team members toward ARE licensure
- Serving as licensed professional of record as we expand into full-service work: construction documents, permitting, CA, and sealing drawings
- Coordinating closely with clients, interior designers, practice advisors, engineers, and general contractors
- Spotting inefficiencies and helping improve how we work
- Bringing a clear design vision to life for our clients, from concept through completion
You’ll be involved from concept to completion, with chances to visit project sites, see the professional photoshoots, and build a standout portfolio. Optional travel, every few months, takes our team to major cities and client locations anywhere from New Jersey to California.
Our VibeWe’re small enough to be a close, tight-knit team and big enough to offer real, long-term stability. We’re a six-person design team inside a company of more than 50 people. Several of our people have been here over twenty years, and many joined us as the place they plan to retire from.
We move fast. Mornings start with a team huddle to align on priorities, and from there everyone works at their own pace, coming together for longer team discussions every two weeks. It's an active environment where things move quickly and people are trusted to own their work. If you're solution-oriented, flexible, and quick on your feet, you'll do well here. If you're looking for something slow and quiet, this isn't the place.
We’re real people doing real work. Team breakfasts and…
