Job DescriptionThe Speech Therapist conducts a variety of tasks relating to speech language pathology. The Speech Therapist is responsible for the supervision of all students within their assignment, is committed to the Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustee’s policies regarding equity, human rights and cross‑cultural understanding and reports directly to the Special Education Director or their designee.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must hold current Massachusetts professional license issued by the appropriate licensing board.
- Previous experience in Speech Pathology preferred.
- Experience with related technology preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to relate well to others.
Special Education Director

Roles and Responsibilities- Diagnose and evaluate speech and language skills as related to educational, medical, social and psychological factors.
- Identify students eligible for services.
- Plan, direct, or conduct rehabilitative treatment programs to restore communicative efficiency of students with communication problems.
- Provide counseling and guidance and language development therapy to disabled students.
- Review student information to obtain background information prior to evaluation and to ensure adequate information is available.
- Administer, score, and interpret specialized hearing and speech tests.
- Develop and implement individualized plans for assigned students to meet individual needs, interests and abilities.
- Evaluate and monitor assigned students.
- Review treatment plans and assess student performance to modify, change, or write new programs to meet student needs.
- Maintain records and documentation as required by law, Atlantis Charter School policy and administrative regulations.
- Conduct research to develop diagnostic and remedial techniques.
- Serve as consultant to classroom teachers to incorporate speech and language development activities into daily schedule.
- Manage groups of students while providing for a variety of learning styles and ability levels.
- Integrate technology to enhance student progress.
- Conduct parent and/or staff professional development workshops related to speech and language therapy best practices when asked by administration.

An annual performance evaluation of the Speech Therapist will be conducted by the Special Education Director or their designee.
Terms of EmploymentFollows part‑time, 10‑month schedule. Hourly rate as negotiated per offer of employment.
Work EnvironmentAbility to walk, sit and stand for long periods. Regularly uses computer keyboard, requiring eye‑hand coordination and finger dexterity. Frequent travel between school buildings.

Salary: $50 to $70 per hour
