Program Goal: Students entering Barnstable West Barnstable Elementary kindergarten will be invited to participate in a summer session to prepare these students and their families for Kindergarten, school routines, expected behaviors, supports available, and allay fears.

Position: Teachers

Job Description: Teachers will:

• Introduce entering Kindergarten students to the classroom setting, routines, and expectations
• Model expected behaviors in the classroom
• Plan, prepare and deliver jumpstart curriculum & daily activities
• Provide student data to Program Coordinator
• Tour the school building, including cafeteria and gymnasium
• Program staff will report to school and/or program administration and follow participating students’ progress

Program duration and anticipated schedule

• August 3, 2026 – August 13, 2026
• Monday through Thursday, 8:30am - 12:30pm (4 hrs/day)
• 4 Hours Program Preparation/Orientation
• 1 Hour of End of Program Clean Up Time
• (37 Hours Total)

Qualifications

• Appropriate certification and/or educational background
• Strong planning and organizational skills
