Job DescriptionThe Resource Acquisition and Management Department of the Boston College Libraries invites applications for the position of Resource Management Librarian
. This role leads the post‑acquisition maintenance, access, and ongoing management of the Libraries’ extensive online scholarly resources, including journal packages, databases, ebooks, online standing orders, and datasets across a broad range of disciplines. The successful candidate will play a central role in sustaining the accuracy, continuity, and discovery of the Libraries’ licensed and open‑access online content. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Resource Acquisition & Management, Scholarly Platforms & Discovery, and Library Systems & Applications, the Resource Management Librarian ensures that metadata, authentication, and access pathways remain consistent, reliable, and aligned with best practices in electronic resource management.
Key functions include:
- Leading the setup, activation, and long‑term maintenance of electronic collections and portfolios in Alma
- Managing workflows that strengthen automation, reduce manual labor, and improve accuracy and efficiency in resource management
- Overseeing title transfers, perpetual access claims, platform migrations, and Community Zone/Knowledge Base updates in Alma
- Diagnosing, triaging, and resolving complex access issues for online scholarly resources, including e‑journals, databases, streaming media, ebooks, and datasets
- Generating reports and conducting analysis—including cost‑per‑use, overlap analysis, linear feet calculations, and usage statistics—to inform collection development and renewal decisions
- Preparing required annual data for ACRL and ARL reporting
- Serving on committees, task forces, and consortial working groups, including those related to Alma/Primo enhancements
The Resource Management Librarian reports to the Head of Resource Acquisition and Management and works collaboratively as part of the department’s leadership team. The position trains and assigns work to student employees.

Full‑Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $78,100 to $97,650; salary commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements- MLS, MLIS, or MIS and 2+ years of related professional experience in an academic library, library consortium, or content vendor/publisher environment
- Experience leading or implementing workflow improvements and change initiatives
- Experience managing large and complex online resource collections, including knowledge bases, OpenURL linking, authentication systems, and troubleshooting issues of patron access
- Experience with Ex Libris Alma, including the Acquisitions, Analytics, and Community Zone components
- Demonstrated experience with serials management, including title transfers, perpetual access, and annual package updates
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, including experience defining and documenting technical workflows
- Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including library content vendors and publishers
- Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and experience working collaboratively across units
