The Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. The role of the coach is to build teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices in alignment with Massachusetts State Standards. The student services’ instructional coach works closely with teachers to implement effective, high quality instructional methods. The student services’ instructional coach helps teachers to use data to support and inform instructional decisions, focusing on multi‑lingual learners and scholars served through special education.
An instructional coach models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. Instructional coaches will provide support and feedback on co‑teaching models and inclusion models, and with student services’ teachers in small groups. In collaboration with the Directors of Curriculum and Instruction, they are responsible for ensuring high‑quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co‑planning, co‑teaching and providing feedback to teachers.
The instructional coach will demonstrate and model a passion for urban education reform and leadership, especially through the lens of multilingual learners and scholars serviced by an individual education plan.
