Job Description:

POSITION TITLE: Adjunct Faculty - EMS Coordinator/Instructor
DEPARTMENT: School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)
PRIMARY

LOCATION:

Fall River, MA
REPORTS TO: Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)
POSITION STATUS: MCCC/DCE unit position, non-benefitted. Adjunct Faculty are part-time instructors hired on an as needed basis. Courses may be offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and/or Taunton. Courses may be held during the day, in the evening, and on weekends (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays).

Positions will be available pending sufficient enrollment.
STARTING DATE: Academic Year
SALARY: Minimum salary is $1,446 per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The Environmental Technology (Wastewater) - Adjunct Faculty will be responsible for, but not limited to, teaching and developing curriculum/course material for the A.S. in Engineering Technology (Environmental) Program and offering student support through varied interaction. A list of potential courses can be found online in the Course Catalog . Adjunct Faculty will engage in a critical role in the teaching and learning process, contributing to student learning outcomes and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver didactic lectures and presentations aligned with the NASEMSO National EMS Education Standards
  • Facilitate laboratory and skills practice sessions (e.g., airway management, hemorrhage control, patient assessment)
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, case studies, and scenario-based learning activities
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional classroom and laboratory environment
  • Adapt instructional methods to diverse adult learners, including visual, kinesthetic, and auditory styles

Assessment & evaluation

  • Develop, administer, and grade written exams and quizzes
  • Conduct and assess high-fidelity simulation scenarios
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on performance deficiencies
  • Maintain accurate and confidential grade records

Clinical & field coordination

  • Supervise and evaluate students during clinical rotations (ED, hospital, 911 field)
  • Coordinate with clinical site preceptors to ensure standardized learning experiences
  • Review and approve student clinical documentation and patient care reports
  • Identify and remediate students not meeting clinical competencies

Student support & advising

  • Hold office hours (in-person or virtual) for student questions and academic support
