Position: Suzuki Violin Instructor (Fall 2026)

Overview

The New School of Music (NSM) in Cambridge seeks a creative, flexible, experienced, and engaging part‑time Suzuki violin instructor to teach private lessons to children and adults of all ages (3+). NSM is an inclusive community music school for children and adults. We welcome all levels, from first time beginners to students with decades of experience. Our faculty adapt to students' diverse learning styles and support students’ goals.

Responsibilities
  • Teach one day a week of private Suzuki violin lessons during the core academic calendar (September through June), with potential additional teaching in the summer.
  • Create developmentally age‑appropriate curriculum and adapt lessons to meet individual student goals.
  • Maintain a professional and inclusive learning environment, respecting the diverse styles and abilities of all students.
  • Teach all lessons at the New School of Music, located just outside of Harvard Square.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working with children.
  • A genuine passion for teaching and sharing music with young people.
  • Dedication to inclusivity in all school‑related interactions and communications.
  • Shown ability to be creative in the lesson to actively engage students.
  • Experience developing age‑appropriate curriculums.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in performance, music education, music pedagogy, or equivalent work experience.
