Job Description:POSITION TITLE: Adjunct Faculty
- Classroom/Didactic Nursing (Medical/Surgical)

Fall River, MA
REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Nursing
POSITION STATUS: MCCC/DCE unit position, non-benefitted. Adjunct Faculty are part-time instructors hired on an as-needed basis. Courses may be offered in online, hybrid, or face-to-face modalities in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and/or Taunton. Courses may be held during the day, in the evening, and on weekends (Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sundays).

STARTING DATE: Academic Year
SALARY: Minimum salary is $1,446 per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement. DCE Adjuncts and Part-Time Members (mccc-union.org)
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The duties of the Adjunct Faculty - Classroom/Didactic Nursing (Medical/Surgical) include, but may not be limited to, providing clinical instruction that coordinates with theoretical content and achieves course objectives. Adjunct Faculty will engage in a critical role in the teaching and learning process as a member of the nursing team, contributing to student success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team-teach lecture courses and/or teach courses individually, or teach specific topics as requested.
- Work with the Nursing Associate Dean of Nursing and full-time Nursing faculty team responsible for Medical/Surgical nursing theory.
- Within the nursing faculty team, assume responsibility for instruction in medical surgical nursing theory content within courses.
- Participate in weekly nursing first or second year team meetings each semester.
- Recommend suitable instructional material, textbooks, and library acquisitions by working with the faculty team.
- Use technology effectively to communicate with students and colleagues, to teach online as needed, and to enhance classroom learning as appropriate.
- Engage in student support by providing strategies that empower students to meet their goals.
- Develop appropriate discipline-related courses and evaluation materials consistent with the framework of the nursing department and in accordance with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing (MABORN) and Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
- Post and maintain weekly office hours "in accordance with the MCCC contract".
- Participate as needed and requested in components necessary for program, institutional, state compliance and ACEN accreditation.
- Participate in assessment of course and program learning outcomes.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to address the college's goals related to technology, academic innovation and equity.
- Complete required trainings such as, but not limited to, Title IX, FERPA, Bloodborne Pathogens and Information Security.
- Foster student success across the college's diverse student body through innovative teaching and learning approaches as well as curriculum development.
