Vocational Paraprofessional
Diman Regional is seeking a highly skilled and passionate paraprofessional to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to educational excellence, and the ability to inspire and engage students. Diman Regional is seeking a vocational paraprofessional with experience in a vocational school.
Schedule:
School Year (183 days) 7:15 am to 2:45 pm, which includes half hour unpaid lunch
Pay Rate:
In accordance with the Diman paraprofessional pay rate
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a genuine interest in working with students.
- Prior experience working as a paraprofessional and/or working with students (preferred, not required).
- Ability to use technology in support of student learning.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Vocational school/trade experience preferred
Role of Paraprofessionals in vocational setting:
The vocational paraprofessional works with the shop teacher to ensure that all students are successful in the program. Paraprofessionals provide students with additional support, assist the shop teacher in maintaining a safe learning environment, and tailor activities to meet students' individual needs. In addition, they must have a genuine passion for working with a diverse student population to help all students succeed.
Vocational paraprofessionals may be asked to cover multiple areas throughout the day.
Our Students:
Diman is a diverse, multicultural vocational technical high school, which serves approximately 1500 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in 18 career majors. Our students are prepared for college, career, and/or additional technical training.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Supervise and keep students on task.
- Proficient in safely operating hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Ability to meet deadlines and carry out initiatives as assigned by your supervisor.
- Ability to be flexible with job assignments and performance responsibilities
- Demonstrates commitment to assisting learners in achieving their highest potential.
- Support learners in the vocational program to access curriculum
- Build positive rapport with students to encourage achievement and effort.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
