A certified parent educator implements the PAT model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates and reflects with families.
Full-time, 35 hours per week. Monday
- Friday, 9am-5pm, with some flexibility and potential to work 1-2 days until 6/6:30pm depending on parents work schedules.
$1 per hour Language Differential! (eligible languages include: Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish or ASL)

- Engage in recruitment activities (as applicable)
- Complete and initial and annual family-centered assessment with each family
- Develop, monitor and review goals with each family
- Provide personal visits focused on parent-child interactions, development-centered parenting and family well-being (including planning, delivering, and documenting visits)
- Use the PAT Foundational curriculum to share research based information with families
- Complete at least an initial and annual development screening and health review for each enrolled child
- Connect families to resources that help them reach their goals and address their needs
- Help parents and children transition to other services as needed, to preschool, or to kindergarten
- Maintain and submit in a timely way all required family and program documentation
- Organize and inventory supplies/materials, etc.
- Participate in at least 2 hours of reflective supervision monthly and at least 2 hours of staff meetings monthly
- Obtain competency-based professional development and renew parent educator certification
- Participates in continuous quality improvement
- Other duties as needed

Education and Experience
The parent educators must have a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work or related field (or equivalent degree outside of the United States). Parent Educators must complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings before delivering PAT services. Must be fluent in Haitian Creole.
