Job Overview
Rector Seal is seeking a Plastics Processing Engineer to drive operational excellence at our Fall River, MA facility. Rector Seal manufactures and/or distributes a variety of mechanical products for the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing industries. The Plastics Processing Engineer will work hands on primarily in our extrusion department, as an important part of our operations team to help ensure part quality remains consistent and that output is delivered safely, productively, and on time in accordance with our customer-focused core values. This will be a salaried role, and will require an on-site presence Monday through Thursday, 7 am to 5 pm at our Fall River facility.
- Keep extrusion machines operating optimally and minimize equipment downtime
- Maintain quality control by monitoring operation and settings of the extrusion equipment
- Supervise 2-4 extrusion department personnel to achieve process excellence and provide technical support and training as needed for our 24 hour operation
- Work closely with production manager to ensure scheduling requirements are achieved
- Develop and document process sheets for all extrusion profiles
- Document processing, repair, and maintenance activities and analyze effects on performance
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis in the Extrusion Department
- Oversee Machine installations and start-ups to support growth of the facility
- Provide technical support as needed in Injection Molding and other departments
- Ensure housekeeping and safety requirements are met
- Plastics, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Degree
- Knowledge of plastic processing & control systems a must
- Profile extrusion and downstream sizing knowledge
- Minimum 1 year of experience with extrusion equipment
- Must be able to read and write (English) to carry out and/or deliver detailed instructions
- Able to work some overtime as needed
- Milacron experience a plus
- Injection mold processing experience a plus
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a non-climate-controlled warehouse environment. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
This position requires computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Rector Seal has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The target salary range for this salaried opportunity is $75,000 - $85,000 /year. Plus, there is an annual bonus incentive. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the CSWI Board of Directors.
