About The Role
We are looking for a Solar Field Commissioning Manager. This is a 1‑year contract (W‑2) assignment. The manager will serve as the Owner’s Representative and oversee subcontractor and OEM installation, quality control, plant testing, performance testing, ISO/GIA/PPA testing, and startup of solar PV power systems.
LocationUS – travel up to 75% required; remaining work remote in supporting SCADA monitoring and portfolio management.
Reports ToSenior Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in safety program and audits.
- Perform detailed system quality control inspections for completeness of installation vs. install manuals, engineering specifications, and drawings; maintain detailed punch‑list.
- Perform system walk‑downs prior to turnover or energization.
- Assist commissioning anomalies as the primary subject‑matter expert owner’s representative.
- Report daily, weekly, and monthly on progress, indicators, and recovery plans to upper management.
- Manage substation testing and energization of third‑party equipment.
- Manage metering testing and the ISO/GIA/PPA commissioning process.
- Schedule and lead understanding meetings leading up to, and during performance testing periods, to ensure alignment with all required support parties and execution of the test.
- Utility‑scale solar PV installation and startup experience (modules, DC collection, combiner boxes, inverters).
- Understand technical performance and integration of PV inverters, DC collection, MV collection, and plant controls/SCADA.
- Experience creating commissioning processes and substation testing/startup.
- Implement and troubleshoot protection and controls.
- Understand balance‑of‑plant components (combiner boxes, DC feeders, inverter stations, step‑up transformers, MV collection, plant controller, SCADA).
- Conduct quality control inspections and punch‑list management.
- Experience with DC systems (0–2 000 Vdc) and AC systems (480 V–34.5 kV).
- Familiarity with troubleshooting PLCs and industrial electronic equipment (protection relays, inverters, plant controllers, revenue meters).
- Experience with plant‑control and SCADA systems (inverter communications, PPC/plant controller, data historian) and troubleshooting.
Estimated $74.00–$79.00 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and skills.
