I'm currently supporting an innovative and rapidly growing materials technology company on a confidential search for a Senior Product Development Engineer / Scientist
.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative R&D team developing next‑generation functional coatings and advanced materials that protect critical electronic systems used in consumer electronics, automotive, EV, and other high‑performance applications.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking new technologies from concept through formulation, testing, and customer implementation, while working at the forefront of materials innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Develop innovative coating formulations and functional materials for next‑generation electronic protection.
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate coating performance and optimise formulations.
- Drive product development from concept through validation and commercial implementation.
- Develop new application techniques and testing methodologies.
- Collaborate with Technical Services, Manufacturing, Operations, and Commercial teams to support successful product launches.
- Serve as the technical expert for products under development and support customer implementation activities.
- Contribute to new intellectual property through innovation and technology development.
- Mentor junior scientists and technicians while supporting a collaborative R&D environment.

- M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Industrial R&D experience developing new materials, coatings, polymers, or formulations.
- Proven experience taking products from laboratory development through to commercial implementation.
- Strong understanding of material performance, formulation development, and application technologies.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced innovation environment.
- Patent, publication, or IP development experience would be advantageous.
