Position: BDO / Senior Loan Officer - Boston

About the Role

In accordance with established lending policies and procedures, examine, evaluate, and recommend approval of commercial customer applications for extensions of credit, predominately through SBA loan programs. Interview applicants and request specified information for loan applications. Structure credits in a manner consistent with SBA program guidelines. Develop customer relationships through friendly, courteous and responsive service. Promote the bank's services to current and potential customers through industry‑specific trade shows.

Develop strong relationships with referral sources in various market niches.

Responsibilities
  • Develop sales, marketing, and business development strategies for SBA BDO / Generalist Team
  • Primary business development originator for SBA BDO / Generalist Team
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluation to determine if loan requests meet the bank's, SBA's and/or USDA's lending criteria
  • Structure loan opportunities to comply with bank SBA standards
  • Evaluate sources of repayment on potential loan requests
  • Correspond with or interview applicants or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information
  • Recommend loans to loan committee for approval
  • Reject loans that do not meet lending criteria
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with referral sources
  • Develop industry expertise in serving specified market niches
  • Maintain relationships with existing loan account customers and administer existing loan accounts as needed
  • Keep abreast of economic conditions, changes and trends in customers' businesses, the banking industry and the specific market niches targeted by the bank
  • Function as a team and realize all members of the team are vital to its success
  • Stay current with products and services the bank is offering
  • Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC
  • Perform other duties as required
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 - 7 years of financial or industry related experience
  • Well established external COIs/referral sources
  • Strong market influencer in the general region in Boston
  • A history of closing $15+ million per year for the past 3 years, preferably in the industries that Live Oak Bank finances
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • In-depth knowledge of bank lending policies, procedures and criteria

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base pay range: $ - $ per year.
  • May include annual bonuses and long‑term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy.
