PurposeAssumes responsibility for creating and maintaining quality and profitable loan, deposit and service-oriented relationships with small to middle market organizations and individuals within the Bank’s Cape Cod territory. Achieves sales goals while maintaining good loan quality. Provides excellent customer service to borrowers and makes referrals to other areas of the Bank.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assumes responsibility for marketing/ business development functions.
- Develops and maintains prospect lists through contacts with accountants, attorneys and other centers of influence.
- Participates in local community and civic organizations on behalf of the Bank in order to foster a positive image within the community it serves.
- Cross-sells other Bank services to existing customers and initiates referrals as appropriate to other Bank personnel for follow up action.
- Develops and implements a call program to customers, prospects and referral sources to create business opportunities for the bank.
- Assumes responsibility for lending/credit functions.
- Defines customer needs and completes all necessary sections of the Commercial Credit Memorandum.
- Possesses an in depth knowledge of the Bank’s policies in order to insure on-going compliance.
- Properly identify said exception or exceptions and obtain proper approval.
- Present loans for approval and/or periodic review to the Executive Committee and Senior Management.
- Maintains current information in credit files which includes business and personal financial information, detailed credit memos and direct correspondence to keep the reader informed of the status of the account.
- In conjunction with the SVP/Senior Lender, participates in planning and executing loan workout strategies with problem credits including working with attorneys and workout personnel.
- Assumes responsibility for initiation, execution and follow up of all loan documentation required to book a specific transaction. This also includes working closely with attorneys if required to insure a satisfactory closing.
- Possesses working knowledge of Federal, State, Regulatory and local laws and regulations as they pertain to commercial lending in order to insure compliance.
- Assumes responsibility for lending administration activities.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly reports as required for EVP, Director of Commercial Lending.
- Proactively seeks out opportunities to attend various educational courses and training as needed to enhance job performance.
- Attends required group meetings in which ideas and issues are discussed relative to departmental functions.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred, or equivalent training experience.
- Minimum of five years of commercial lending and business development experience.
- Formal Bank credit training; extensive accounting/lending knowledge, general computer literate-knowledge.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to meet strict deadlines.
- Work includes changing priorities for multiple, simultaneous projects.
- Position frequently moves from sitting to standing to walking.
- Essential to follow written and verbal directions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, photocopiers, telephones, and scanners.
- Requires occasional lifting/ carrying equipment/ boxes of up to 30 pounds within work area.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance visions, ability to adjust focus.
- Regular travel between main office and branches, and to customer meetings.
- Position requires a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Standard 40 hour work week expected, though position may sometimes require early arrival, late departure, and/or Saturday / Sunday hours.
- Private office area.
- Frequent distractions include overhearing coworker conversations, employees working through the area and similar interruptions.
