Why is it important?

BRPC addresses challenges that affect both the Berkshire region and individual communities. Issues such as community development, transportation, the economy, environment, energy, public health, housing, and land use often cross municipal boundaries and create interconnected challenges. BRPC’s regional scope allows the Commission to support solutions that benefit the region while responding to local needs and fostering collaborative approaches across communities.

BRPC also serves as a united voice for the Berkshires when working with state and federal agencies. The Commission engages the public through outreach and input opportunities where community members can share their experiences. Public feedback on study results and proposed plans is an integral part of BRPC’s planning process.
