Job - Long Term Substitute Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
PositionSpeech and Language Pathology Assistant
Job DescriptionAssists the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language therapy services for students with communication disorders, including technical assistance with equipment required for accommodating disabilities or required supports.
Performance Responsibilities- Follows established Individual Educational Plans to facilitate students' progress on communication and educational goals under the supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist.
- Collects data for monitoring services, and sets up and tracks assigned equipment.
- Maintains files and records, including progress reports, activity logs, treatment plans, and other required documentation.
- Prepares, under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist, materials necessary to provide services.
Education and/or Experience
- Associate's degree from college, 60 credits in a related program; or
- A minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or
- An aggregate combination of experience and education in the field.
- An SLPA license.
- Ability to read and understand plans for services as written in student treatment and support plan.
- Ability to communicate and record via routine required reports, records and correspondence.
- Ability to read and interpret documents including safety requirements, instructions for operating and maintaining equipment, and procedural instructions or manuals.
- Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and follow accordingly.
- Ability to calculate in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to problem‑solve situations, including complex situations with multiple variables.
The employee may be used as an itinerant and required to move about within or between buildings. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 20 to 40 pounds of equipment.

Reports ToSupervising SLP or Director of Special Education
Terms of EmploymentSalary and benefits in accordance with the Fall River Educators Association Unit B Contract scale. Continued employment is contingent on work performance, program need, and funding.
