About the Role

Occupational Therapy Assistant / Occupational Therapist (Per Diem) -

Purpose of Position:
To develop, coordinate, and implement the occupational therapy segment of treatment in coordination with program staff, addressing functional activities such as goal‑oriented therapy to facilitate meaningful independent living.

• Conduct occupational assessments, sensory needs assessments, reassessments, and evaluate patient’s cognitive, functional, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and vocational skills.
• Assist Occupational Therapist Assistant as needed.
• Utilize evaluation methods appropriate to the client’s age, education, cultural and ethnic background, medical status, and functional ability.
• Participate in the development of patient treatment plans, including discharge planning goals, based on assessment information.
• Guide patient selection of individual tasks or projects that align with their defined needs and goals, encouraging participation.
• Assist and teach patients in individual and/or group work; modify teaching interventions based on evaluation.
• Maintain accurate and timely records per policies and procedures.
• Implement interventions, including crisis management procedures, in collaboration with the treatment team; manage utilization of van and transport patients per policies.
• Participate in committees, quality assessment and improvement activities, and attend continuing education programs specific to psychiatric care for the population being treated.
• Comply with all established policies and procedures.
• Perform other work‑related duties as directed.

• Read, write, and communicate in English.
• Entry‑level degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
• Licensed Occupational Therapist Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) registration.
• Completion of an approved De‑escalation Certification Course within 30 days of start.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of start.
• Preferred:
  National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

• Read, write, and communicate in English.
• Entry‑level degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
