Under general supervision of Manager of Breast Imaging, the Mammography technologist provides Mammographic technical skills to the Department mission. Duties are to work as technologist and duties in other areas and/or modalities as necessary. The Mammography technologist performs mammography exams for use of diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury to patients of all ages.
- All other Radiology/Mammography exams either added as new or currently in place can be performed as required
- Ensures the following parameters and issues are maintained and or performed at all times by all staff
- Radiology/mammography safety for personnel and patients
- Thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology
- Protocols kept current and state-of-the-art. Works through radiologist and staff to develop and improve protocols
- Communicates procedures, concerns and delay to patients at all times
- Maximizes patient flow through both Radiology/Mammography schedule and new program initiatives
- Utilizes schedule logs to keep patients informed of procedures and delays.
- Enters all pertinent Radiology/Mammography patient information into Information System as required
- Maximizes codes and reimbursement issues within Radiology/mammography via code updates, changes and knowledge base
- Understands and implements all updated managed care criteria for reimbursement and billing protocols
- Communicates with service vendors regarding service and equipment related issues
- Ensures call ins are timely, efficient , qualitative and complete
- Updates and develops as necessary, the most appropriate radiology/mammography protocols to maintain department requirements for clinical and research purpose.
- Requires knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and mammography and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment to include mammography
- Generally acquired through the completion of two years post-high school training in an approved, school of Radiologic technology. MSRT/ARRT (M) required
- The Mammographer requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and all/any apprehensions, to instruct students and to provide technical supervision to staff technologists.
- Requires knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and mammography and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment to include mammography
- Generally acquired through the completion of two years post-high school training in an approved, school of Radiologic technology. MSRT/ARRT (M) required
Compensation Range:
$51.32- $76.26
