Job SummaryNavitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to support operating room procedures in a travel capacity. The Surgical Tech assists surgeons and registered nurses in delivering safe, high‑quality surgical care, maintains a sterile environment, prepares instruments and equipment, and performs scrub technician duties. This role is critical to patient safety, infection control, and surgical efficiency.
Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room with surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.
- Maintain sterile technique following hospital policy and professional standards.
- Perform scrub technician duties for various surgical services and specialties.
- Pass instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures.
- Assist with retraction, suturing, and counting sponges, needles, and instruments.
- Assemble, operate, and troubleshoot surgical equipment.
- Handle, label, and dispose of surgical specimens per protocol.
- Apply surgical dressings and assist with patient transfer to recovery areas.
- Ensure case‑specific instrumentation and equipment are available per surgeon preference.
- Assist with patient positioning and transport in the operating room.
- Operate OR equipment including lights, suction, sterilizers, and diagnostic tools.
- Assist with medication preparation under the direction of the surgeon or RN.
- Support OR turnover, restocking, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education.
- Orient and support new OR staff as assigned.
- Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety.
- Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to ensure high‑quality care.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Operating Room Technician program.
- National Surgical Technologist certification (NBSTSA or equivalent) required; must be maintained.
- Certification accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Strong orthopedic surgery experience preferred.
- Knowledge of sterile technique, infection control, and surgical procedures.
