Radiation Therapist
Responsible for treatment planning tasks related to conventional radiotherapy, IMRT or Brachytherapy, and for the accuracy and quality of patient's treatment plans. Responsible for interacting with physicians to correctly carry out the written directives and providing accurate documentations. Participate in patient simulations and provide helps to therapist as needed. Assist the physicist in chart checking, special dosimetry, brachytherapy and radiation safety work and may participate in quality assurance of medical linear accelerators.

Contours patient, obtains separations, evaluated CT images and verifies off-axis data as required for simulator coverage
Performs dose calculations, assessing information as required for each case, utilizing correct factors
Provides isodose distributions accurately representing the patient's treatment as indicated by simulator parameters
Make effort to produce the best dosimetry plans
Works with physicians to optimize IMRT treatment plans
Demonstrates proficiency with the IMPAC R&V system
Capable to correctly use the physics related software or basic equipment
Considers age specific needs according to scope of service:
Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, GeriatricProvides accurately radiation surveys after the brachytherapy procedures or for a specific concerned area
Receives and ships radioactive materials and completes appropriate documentation accurately
Performs brachytherapy dose/treatment time calculations as required for each case
Handles radioactive isotopes according to ALARA and regulatory guidelines
Completes all necessary documentation for each case accurately and in a timely manner
Accurately charges each patient for services rendered in a timely fashion
Prepares custom boluses or molds as needed
Capable of performing dosimetry measurements
Assists physicians to solve treatment set-up difficulties
Assists physicians with creation of clinical electron set-ups ensuring complete documentation of treatment parameters
Can assist physicist performs machine quality assurance
Assists in performs weekly chart checks
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
A.S degree in health/physical sciences or equivalent. BA degree in health/physical sciences or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
One year practical experience in clinical radiation therapy as a RTT and four years experiences in radiation dosimetry and treatment planning. Knowledge of dosimetric and treatment planning concepts as applied to external beam and brachytherapy in a modern Radiation Oncology facility. Familiarity with equipment QA procedures. Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) preferred. Eligibility for board certification is a requirement.

Pay Range: $46.02-$67.87
