Radiologic Technologist / CT Tech
Under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, performs a variety of technical radiographic procedures; applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Responsible for designated areas or procedures, as required. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age‑specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient and adapt their care to the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs. Fosters patient and family‑centered care and radiologic services in accordance with the Brown University Health and the Miriam Hospital’s mission, vision, values, with consideration of the life span, including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.

- Meets, greets, answers questions, and provides an understandable explanation of radiologic examinations to patients in order to reduce apprehension.
- Provides for safety and comfort of all patients according to prescribed standards.
- Schedules patients for radiologic examinations in a prescribed manner, ensuring efficient patient flow.
- Processes radiographic images using CR Readers and scans images to the PACS for physician review.
- Performs diagnostic procedures demonstrating sound understanding of anatomical positioning, physiology, and technical factors to produce optimum results.
- Scans documents into RIS and PACS when applicable.
- Operates fixed radiographic equipment in the Radiology Department and transports and operates portable equipment on nursing units.
- Assists physician and physician assistant in the administration of opaque contrast media.
- Processes exposed radiographic images as required.
- Follows protocols for appropriate usage of RIS and PACS.
- Maintains orderliness, cleanliness and adequate supplies for assigned area.
- Rotates within the department and by shift, including weekends and holidays.
- Participates in the training and instruction of radiologic technology for staff radiographers and students.
- Maintains quality assurance, observing hospital and department safety regulations, environmental and infection control, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Complies with departmental appearance guidelines.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Completion of formal training in an AMA‑approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
- Maintains a current license to work in the State of Rhode Island.
- Holds current ARRT certification.

- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the lifespan, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns.
- Successful completion of clinical experience required for certification.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, physicians and staff of all levels and display empathy toward all patients.
- Experience in healthcare environments such as acute care hospitals, physicians’ offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises.
- Experience working with medical equipment and having direct patient contact.
- Adherence to safety procedures and precautions, including use of safety equipment and protective clothing.
- Will walk and stand intermittently throughout the day; may lift and position patients and lift supplies up to 50 pounds.
