SAH Cardiovascular Radiology Technologist

Summary

To provide compassionate care to patients while providing excellent radiographic images. To be an integral part of the cardiovascular lab team in the roles of scrub assist, circulator or monitor.

• Preparation, identification, positioning, protection and radiographic technique:
  Demonstrates competence in the preparation, identification, positioning, protection and radiographic technique of all imaging procedures.
• Preparation/Set-Up:
  Prepares room orientation based on procedure and sets up sterile tables, medrad injector, table contrast, heparinized saline, ensures all equipment such as ultrasound, angiojet and cryoplasty are ready; ensures safety checks are completed each day.
• Technique:
  Uses proper techniques that minimize radiation exposure to self, patients, the general public and other health care personnel; modifies care according to patient’s age.
• Clinical Practice:
  Provides patient care and service with compassion, dignity and respect.
• Self/Organizational Improvement:
  Continually suggests and implements ways to improve personal, departmental and organizational performance.

• Minimum
  
  Education Requirements:
  
  ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist with MA License, BLS/ACLS required.
• Minimum
  
  Work Experience:
  
  2 years in special procedures or cardiac catheterization strongly preferred.
• Preferred Registries: CV, CI, VI or RCIS Registry.
• Scrub Experience Preferred.
• Other
  
  Skills and Abilities:
  
  Knowledge of all radiographic equipment, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, radiation safety, anatomy, computer skills, and vast knowledge of all catheters, wires, and revascularization tools and their applications; ability to recognize cardiac rhythms, abnormal lab values and changes in patient status and to communicate these changes to the team; ability to scrub assist on all procedures as directed by the physician within scope of practice;
  
  uphold ethical and professional conduct as stated by the ARRT Code of Ethics; flexibility to work overtime and on-call duty as department needs dictate.
