Experienced Assistant Radiation Safety Officer About Alpha Tau

Position Overview

The Assistant Radiation Safety Officer reports to the Director of Operations and supports the Radiation Safety Officer in all RSO-related tasks and responsibilities. The ARSO works with company management and the Radiation Safety Team to oversee radiation safety related to the possession and use of radioactive materials and the manufacture and distribution of radiation producing medical devices.

Job Requirements
  • BS or MS in Health Physics, Radiological Health, Physics, or other relevant field.
  • Substantial experience working in Radiation Safety / Health Physics is preferred, but extensive Rad experience in related fields will be considered.
Main Responsibilities
  • Implementation, coordination, and day-to-day oversight of the Radiation Protection Program.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and license requirements and administer all related records and data collection.
  • Oversee radiation safety during manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct safety audits, training, contamination surveys, receipt of radioactive material, and oversight of shipments of radioactive material.
  • Coordinate radioactive waste shipments.
  • Manage the personnel dosimetry and bioassay program for the site.
  • Establish and advise on radiation safety and operational policies and procedures.
