Job Purpose and Summary

At CVS Health®, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy. In this role you will cover pharmacist scheduling gaps, support pharmacy operations, and act as a Pharmacy Manager’s proxy when needed.
Responsibilities- Travel the district to cover pharmacist shifts as scheduled.
- Oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
- Assume day‑to‑day duties of the Pharmacy Manager when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Provide compassionate patient care, including counseling, immunizations, and collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, focusing on cold‑chain products and best practices.
- Maintain clinical and technical skills through required training and continuing medical education.
- Deliver pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping.
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Strong attention and focus to concentrate on multiple tasks.
- Use active listening and communication skills with patients and colleagues.
- Use mathematical reasoning to prepare prescriptions and manage inventory.
- Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions appropriately.
- Maintain physical abilities: standing, lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching, and using fingers and hands.
Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; handle repetitive finger motions; lift up to 20 lbs; maintain visual acuity for detailed tasks.
Preferred Qualifications- 1–2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
