Within our retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise by ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities- Support pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide positive patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunizations and other services at the register, and solving or escalating patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities as directed by pharmacy leadership, such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team by embracing a growth mindset, seeking feedback, and expanding clinical and technical knowledge.
- Volunteer to travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed by the business and remain flexible for scheduling and business needs.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
- Maintain patient privacy and security, comply with CVS policies, and ensure safe, controlled‐substance dispensing and recordkeeping.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
- When permissible, support immunizations by completing additional licensure and training, educating patients on vaccines, monitoring adverse reactions, and managing vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- Minimum age: 16 years if not otherwise mandated; high school diploma or equivalent (or active enrollment in high school).
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Demonstrate attention, focus, and the ability to pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs.
- Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Provide friendly customer service, actively look for ways to help people, and respond appropriately to patient reactions.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with patients and colleagues, employ active listening, and ask clarifying questions.
- Apply mathematical reasoning to determine appropriate quantities for prescriptions (e.g., total tablets, day’s supply).
- Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions by choosing the best course of action.
- Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
- Lift and move items up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, and use repetitive finger motions.
- Perform tasks requiring visual acuity such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or reading small parts.
- Move between low and high positions with bending and lifting, and alter hand, arm, and leg positions frequently.
- Exchange ideas and provide spoken instructions efficiently.
- 1–3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
20 hours per week (part‑time)
Pay Range$17.00 – $27.00 per hour. The actual base salary offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
