Role Description

The High School Athletic Trainer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Massachusetts, United States. This role provides athletic training services to high school student‑athletes, including injury prevention programs, on‑field assessment of injuries, development and implementation of treatment plans, and coordination of safe return‑to‑play protocols. The Athletic Trainer collaborates closely with coaches, school staff, physicians, and families to support athlete health, performance, and education on safe training practices.

Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate injury and treatment documentation, managing athletic training room operations, organizing equipment and supplies, and supporting emergency action plans during practices and competitions. The role also involves promoting health and wellness education, adhering to professional and institutional standards, and participating in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise in athletic training, including injury assessment, rehabilitation, and return‑to‑play decision‑making.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with student‑athletes, families, coaches, school staff, and medical providers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain organized records, and operate an athletic training room efficiently.
  • Commitment to evidence‑based practice, safety protocols, and continuous professional growth in sports medicine.
  • Certification as an Athletic Trainer (e.g., BOC certification) and eligibility for Massachusetts licensure as an Athletic Trainer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field; a master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
  • Experience working with high school or youth athletes, including game and practice coverage, is highly beneficial.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications and familiarity with emergency response procedures in athletic settings.
