  • Provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to adults and children with hearing and balance disorders
  • Spend approximately 80% of time in direct patient care and 20% analyzing test data, writing reports, communicating with patients, and participating in divisional activities
  • Perform pediatric and adult diagnostic hearing evaluations using case history, pure tone, speech, tympanometry, acoustic reflex, and otoacoustic emissions testing
  • Interpret diagnostic results and recommend further audiological assessment, medical intervention, or rehabilitation
  • Communicate diagnostic findings to patients, families, physicians, and referral sources
  • Perform hearing aid evaluations and make appropriate recommendations
  • Explain digital hearing-aid technology levels and suitability for patient needs
  • Take earmold impressions and program and fit hearing instruments
  • Administer, interpret, and apply hearing handicap scales, real-ear analysis, and sound-field measures
  • Troubleshoot hearing instruments
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor shell repair or modification
  • Perform and interpret electro-acoustic analysis of hearing aids
  • Work collaboratively with two physicians, a nurse practitioner, physicians, and staff in a private-practice ENT setting
  • Report to the Clinical Manager
Requirements
  • Master's degree required in Audiology
  • 1–3 years of related work experience required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association
  • Possess or be eligible for licensure in Audiology from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Perform services according to current standards of practice defined by BIDHC/APG, the Medical Center, and the American Speech and Hearing Association
  • Experience with computer systems, web-based applications, and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access
  • Preferred: experience diagnosing and remediating hearing and balance disorders
  • Preferred: proven skills in AEP, ENG/EVG, and digital hearing-aid fitting
  • Ability to communicate moderately complex information in English in varied written formats
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English
  • Ability to provide patient care to youth, young adults, middle-aged, and elderly populations
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand and/or move around through the majority of the shift
  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment
